Planning Your Vacation: Budget

The dreaded B word. I’m talking about “budget.” And to be honest, we should all be talking about budget especially when it comes to working with your travel advisor. Knowing your budget when working with a travel advisor is essential because it helps us to create a tailored travel plan that fits within your finances.

Before you start the exciting path of cultivating your vacation with your travel planner think about what you’d be willing to spend on the experience. Sure you may not know what is reasonable but you do know what is in your personal budget to allocate to the trip.

Here are more reasons why knowing your budget gets you the best vacation experience:

  1. Saves Time and Effort: Knowing your budget upfront helps a travel advisor to narrow down the options and create a plan that is feasible for you, saving you both time and effort.
  2. Maximizes Value: A travel advisor can help you get the most value for your money by suggesting travel options that are within your budget and align with your preferences and interests.
  3. Avoids Overspending: By setting a budget, you can avoid overspending on your trip and ensure that you stay within your financial means.
  4. Enables Flexibility: If you have a budget in mind, a travel advisor can work with you to create a flexible travel plan that allows you to adjust your itinerary and activities to stay within your budget.

There are a few factors to consider when establishing your budget:

  1. Time of Year
If school is out for summer (or winter) it usually means a high travel season which means higher prices.
  2. Type of Accommodations
We book a minimum of a 4-star property to ensure arrangements are up to par.
  3. Destination
Not every destination is created equal. Italy and Greece continue to be the top destinations of choice and therefore the spending reflects their popularity.
  4. Air
Where you are flying from and to contribute heavily to the airfares. Major cities will have better flight schedules and fares.
  5. Type of Touring
Do you prefer private or small group experiences? If you are looking for more unique, un-Googlable experiences those will be more costly.

If you’re wondering what your next magical experience will cost, but don’t really know where to start, here is a guide. This represents a minimum investment to provide you with the experience you’d be happy with and Salt and Sky Travel Designs can stand behind. These figures do not include airfare.
